I just want to share with you the church requirements that we had before we got married. Please note that there may be additional requirements depending on your chosen church venue.
- BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE of both the Groom and the Bride, latest issue (with validity of 6 months), with annotation “For Marriage Purposes”, with parish seal, book, page and line numbers and signed by the Parish Priest.
- CONFIRMATION CERTIFICATE of both the Groom and the Bride, latest issue (with validity of 6 months), with annotation “For Marriage Purposes”, with parish seal, book, page and line numbers and signed by the Parish Priest.
- MARRIAGE LICENSE acquired from the City or Municipal Hall either the Groom or the Bride with a validity period of 120 days (for those not yet married.) Requirements for Marriage License – (1) Certified True Copy of Birth Certificate from NSO; (2) Cedula; (3) CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage to be secure from the NSO); (4) attended Family Planning Seminar; (5) Parents Consent (for 25 years old and below);
- ORIGINAL MARRIAGE CONTRACT OR CERTIFIED TRUE COPY from NSO / CITY Hall for those already CIVILLY MARRIED.
- PERMIT from Bride’s and Groom’s Parish (to be prepared by the Parish office).
- PUBLICATION OF WEDDING BANNS for three consecutive Sundays (to be prepared by the Parish Office and published in the respective parishes of the Groom and Bride).
- CANONICAL INTERVIEW with the Priest (to be scheduled by the Parish Office).
- PRE-CANA SEMINAR whole day seminar (usually scheduled on the third or fourth Sunday of the month prior to the wedding month).
- INDIVIDUAL CONFESSION for both the Groom and the Bride prior to the wedding day. This maybe done / availed of in other churches
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:- Foreigner
- Copy of free status to marry / legal capacity
- Certificate of freedom to marry (to be secured from the church abroad)
- Secure clearance from Chancery Office of Arzobispado de Manila (Tel. Nos. 5277631 / 5273850)
- Divorced/Declared Nullity of Marriage
- Should legally process papers that will show freedom of the concerned to marry
- Secure clearance from Chancery Office of Arzobispado de Manila (Tel. Nos. 5277631 / 5273850)
- Mixed Marriage (Non-Catholic)
- Should sign a petition for dispensation recommended by the Priest Interviewer
- Secure clearance from the Chancery Office.
- Should secure a petition from canonical impediment of disparity of cult
- Widower / Widow
- Should secure a copy of death certificate of the deceased spouse
- For Filipinos working / living abroad where he/she lived there for six (6) months or more
- Certificate of Freedom to Marry to be secured from the church abroad
- Foreigner
ALL DOCUMENTS must be submitted at least two months before the wedding.
